Western Asiatic Terracotta Winged God with Cuneiform Inscription to the Wing and Back
2ND-1ST MILLENNIUM B.C.
2 in. (32 grams, 52 mm).
Hollow-formed with socket to the underside, aviform figure with detailed beak, wings folded to the sides; impressed cuneiform inscription to right wing and rear of body; repaired.
Provenance
From the 'S' collection, acquired 1970-1990s.
The collection was seen and studied by W.G. Lambert, late Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993.
