Western Asiatic Terracotta Tortoise-shaped Jar

7 in. (575 grams, 18 cm wide).
Biconvex in profile with concentric painted bands to the upper face and central rosette motif, integral suspension loop, short-trumpet-shaped spout.

The nomadic style was expressed in the openwork and embossed bronze plates that served as belt buckles and plaques. The 'Ordos bronzes' furthermore consisted mostly of decorative plaques which were sewn onto garments and horses' bridles, the favourite motif being animal combat. -
