Wall Map of the Americas by Covens & Mortier

AMSTERDAM, CIRCA 1750 A.D.

20 7/8 x 25 3/4 in. (61.5 grams, 53.2 x 65.5 cm).

Displaying the western hemisphere from Greenland in the north-east to New Zealand in the south-west; based on an earlier French map by De L'Isle; showing extensive detail in general but only sparse information north of California as is common for maps of this era; showing some 17th century discoveries in the Pacific Ocean (including an early depiction of New Zealand), tracks of voyages by explorers etc.
