Viking Silver Stamped Ring

9TH-11TH CENTURY A.D.

1 in. (5.47 grams, 27.06 mm overall, 24.23 mm internal diameter (approximate size British Z+1, USA 12 3/4, Europe 29.99, Japan 28)).

With a flat-section hoop expanding at the bezel, tapering ends looped around the shank; decorated with two sets of opposed punched triangles with pellets. [No Reserve]

Provenance

From the private collection of a London gentleman, from his grandfather's collection formed before the early 1970s.

    Found Spalding, Lincolnshire, UK.

    This exact from does not appear in Williams's study, although examples with addorsed animals do appear in the 'Unclassified' section (p.102-4). The general shape and proportions are consistent with his Class B examples.
