Viking Silver Pendant with Rock Crystal
8TH-10TH CENTURY A.D.
2 in. (7.55 grams, 51 mm).
With hexagonal-section crystal bead modified for use as a pendant with the addition of a silver collar bearing filigree ropework; thick wire suspension loop with ends twisted around the shank.
ProvenanceFrom the private collection of a London gentleman, from his grandfather's collection formed before the early 1970s.

Bird brooches from the late Viking era have been found in Scandinavia as well in the English Danelaw, through to the early Norman era; such brooches can be dated to the 11th and even early 12th century. -
