Viking Age Silver Triagular Pendant Group

1 - 2 in. (9.05 grams total, 26-50 mm).
Large pendant with repoussé ring-and-dot and herringbone ornament; suspension rings with the ends coiled about the shank. [3, No Reserve]

Property of the vendor's grandfather, thence by family descent, circa 1985.

On the Baltic island of Gotland, high-ranking females wore 'box' (or 'drum') brooches to secure their outer garments at the shoulders. The inner container may have been used to hold small valuables. -
