Tudor Period Iron Fire-Striker with Bronze Handle with Cherubs

16TH-17TH CENTURY A.D.

2 1/2 in. (48.6 grams, 63 mm).

Firesteel with iron striking face, bronze handle formed as an annular wreath supported by putti seated on the backs of two addored dogs; the putti facing in opposite lateral directions, wreath with floral detailing and heart below. [No Reserve]

Provenance

From the private collection of a London gentleman, from his grandfather's collection formed before the early 1970s.
