Stone Age Polished Boat-Shaped Axehead
NEOLITHIC PERIOD, 3RD-2ND MILLENNIUM B.C.
5 1/8 in. (565 grams, 13 cm).
Finely polished in grey-green stone with asymmetric convex cutting edge curving to circular collared 'hammer' butt; pierced centrally to receive wood haft with shallow raised collar to underside.
Provenance
Formerly acquired in the late 1950s.
From the family collection of a South East London collector.
