Stone Age Grey Stone Battle Axehead
LATE 3RD-EARLY 2ND MILLENNIUM B.C.
8 1/4 in. (1.1 kg, 21 cm).
Composed of a finely polished, boat-shaped body in dark grey stone, with expanded asymmetric convex cutting edge tapering to shouldered and collared 'hammer' butt, drilled to receive handle.
Provenance
European collection formed in the 1980s.
From the collection of a North American gentleman.
