Seleukid Empire, Seleukos III Soter (Keraunos) AR Tetradrachm. 225-222 BC.
Antiochia on the Orontes mint. Diademed head of Seleukos III to right / [B]AΣIΛEΩΣ ΣΕΛΕ-ΥΚΟΥ, Apollo Delphios, nude but for chlamys draped from his waist, wearing laurel wreath and seated on omphalos to left, holding arrow with his right hand and resting his left on a bow leaning against the omphalos behind him; monogram of ΞΥ to outer left and monogram of ΩΡ to outer right. SC 921.1; HGC 9, 414c. Very Fine. Some deposits.(16.54gr, 28mm, 1h.).

The method of casting this unique type of coin was adopted by the Gallic Celts who originally came from this region. Dolphins were generally struck in the form of a tree attached to the tail, although some examples appear to have been cast individually.
