Persia. Achaemenid Empire, Time of Artaxerxes I to Artaxerxes II AR Siglos. Circa 450-375 BC.

Lydo-Milesian standard. Sardes or subsidiary mint. Type IIIb (late). Persian king or hero, wearing kidaris and kandys, quiver over shoulder, in kneeling-running stance to right, holding transverse spear and bow; countermark: 45 / Oblong incuse punch; countermark: 45. Carradice Type IIIb. 5.60gr, 14mm.

Persian king or hero, wearing kidaris and kandys, quiver over shoulder, in kneeling-running stance to right, holding dagger in right hand, bow in left; countermark 196 and 'lvv' in Lydian within rectangular incuse / Oblong incuse punch; uncertain countermarks. Carradice Type IV, Group B; BMC Arabia pl. XXVI, 17. 5.56gr, 15mm.
Near Very Fine. Unpublished and apparently unique countermarked inscription in Lydian, bearing possibly a personal name.
