CIRCA 3RD-5TH CENTURY A.D.

4 3/8 in. (86 grams, 11.2 cm high).

The tapering sidewalls and foot formed as a stylised shoe or boot; iridescent surfaces.

    Consisting of four vessels: a clear glass lamp with everted rim; lamp with tapering walls, kick-up to base creating a dome and funnel to the interior, everted rim, polychrome painted decoration to the exterior comprising geometric forms and vegetal scrolls together with calligraphic script; a tubular lamp with waisted lower body and deep kick-up, everted rim and small zones of polychrome painted decoration to the exterior incorporating ropework and floral elements; lamp of cylindrical form with everted rim and polychrome painted motifs including vegetal bands and arcading; fragmentary and containing repairs. 466 grams total, 8-21.5 cm
