AT (Ādurbādagān) mint. Struck circa AD 477-484. Bust to right, wearing crown with two wings, frontal crescent, and korymbos set on crescent, ribbon over each shoulder / Fire altar with ribbons; flanked by two attendants; star and crescent flanking flames. SNS III type IIIb/1c. Good Very Fine. Wavy flan.(4.13gr, 28mm, 3h.).

The method of casting this unique type of coin was adopted by the Gallic Celts who originally came from this region. Dolphins were generally struck in the form of a tree attached to the tail, although some examples appear to have been cast individually. -

Imitating Tyre mint issue, with uncertain date. In the name and types of Alexander III. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress, paws tied beneath chin / ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, Zeus seated to left on backless throne, right leg drawn back, his feet resting on a low foot rest, holding long sceptre in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing to right with closed wings; to left, date in Phoenician. Cf. Price 3293. 12.81gr, 25mm, 9h.
