Romano-Celtic Marble Head of a Warrior

1ST-2ND CENTURY A.D. OR LATER

6 1/8 in. (1.17 kg total, 15.7 cm including stand).

Squat carved head of a warrior with the hair cut close; reserved aquiline nose, incised lentoid eyes with carinated centres, slit mouth; old collector's label '286' to reverse; mounted on a custom-made display stand. [No Reserve]

From a collection acquired on the UK art market from various auction houses and collections mostly before 2000.
From an important Cambridgeshire estate; thence by descent.
