Roman Glass Bracelet Group
3RD-4TH CENTURY A.D.
2 - 2 3/4 in. (31.18 grams total, 50-70 mm).
Comprising: a turquoise D-section bangle with a flattened panel to the upper face; an opaque round-section twisted bracelet with flattened terminals; a dark brown ceramic(?) keeled bangle with notched edges. [3, No Reserve]

The principal parts of a lamp were the body or reservoir which contained the oil (infundibulum); the flat circular top (discus) on which the design, if any, was placed, sometimes with an ornamented rim (margo), the nozzle, with a hole for the insertion of the wick (rostrum, nasus, myxus), the wick, known as ellydinium, the handle (ansa, manubrium). -

Carved in high-relief, a high-status female wearing a palla with a loosely draped stola draped from the left shoulder and arm and drawn across the hips; the left forearm resting on the head of a figure of Venus on a socle base, socket to accept separately carved left hand (absent); mounting sockets to neck and right hip; plain to the reverse; mounted on a custom-made stand. 23 kg total, 55.5 cm including stand
