Terracotta disc with possibly Diocletian (284-305 A.D.) coin impression to each face from which to cast counterfeit coins; chipped. [No Reserve]

Carved in the round as three radiating female faces surrounding a central socket; three faces of the Greek goddess Hekate the goddess associated with magic, witchcraft, the night, the moon, ghosts and necromancy. 1.1 kg total, 10.9 cm (1.2 kg total, 11.3 cm high including stand)

Such items were mainly used by medical staff for grinding ingredients such as medicinal compounds, cosmetics and culinary spices. -
