Roman Bronze Carp Mount

2ND CENTURY A.D.

2 1/2 in. (9.5 grams, 64 mm including stand).

Modelled with thick body tapering to a curved divided tail; large dorsal fin above and two small ventral fins; dished recess to one side for attachment to a bowl; mounted on a custom-made stand. [No Reserve]

From a collection acquired on the UK art market from various auction houses and collections mostly before 2000.
From an important Cambridgeshire estate; thence by descent.
