Renaissance Stained Glass Roundel with a Female Martyr Saint
ITALY, TUSCANY, FLORENCE, CIRCA 1510-1520 A.D.
11 5/8 in. (613 grams, 29.5 cm wide).
With lead came surround, painted glass panel depicting a nimbate female holding a feather or quill in a landscape; probably St. Lucy; repaired. [No Reserve]

In Greek mythology, Narcissus was a hunter from Thespiae in Boeotia who was known for his beauty. He was proud, in that he disdained those who loved him, causing some to commit suicide in order to prove their unrelenting devotion to his striking beauty.
