Pre-Columbian Terracotta Bird and Animal Figure Group

COLIMA, CIRCA 100 B.C.-600 A.D.

2 1/8 - 3 3/8 in. (184 grams total, 55-88 mm including stand).

Comprising: a perching bird with bands of incised geometric ornament to the chest and tail; a smaller bird with applied eyes and stub legs; a zoomorph with raised eyes and D-shaped lateral ears; each mounted on a display stand. [3, No Reserve]

Provenance

From the old private Pre-Columbian collection of a retired UK gentleman; his collection formed in the 1990s from much earlier collections.
Some of his collection was acquired from the private collection of Wayne Leicht, who acquired the specimens from the estate sale of John Dewar, a previous curator at the Southwest Museum, William S. Hart Museum, and Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.
