Pre-Columbian Ecuador Jama Coaque Terracotta Figure

CIRCA 500 B.C.-500 A.D.

4 5/8 in. (103 grams total, 11.9 cm including stand).

Modelled in the half-round standing figure in a knee-length skirt with collar and arm-rings; finely modelled facial and other detailing; mounted on a custom-made stand. [No Reserve]

Provenance

From the old private Pre-Columbian collection of a retired UK gentleman; his collection formed in the 1990s from much earlier collections.
Some of his collection was acquired from the private collection of Wayne Leicht, who acquired the specimens from the estate sale of John Dewar, a previous curator at the Southwest Museum, William S. Hart Museum, and Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.

Accompanied by an identification card: ‘Pre-Columbian Terracotta Figure / Jalisco / West Mexico / poss. BC100-AD600’.
