Pre Columbian Black Ware Vessel with Birds

CHIMU CULTURE, 12TH-15TH CENTURY A.D.

7 in. (9 in.) (648 grams, 18 cm (679 grams total, 23 cm high including stand)).

With domed body and pointed underside, broad trumpet-shaped mouth, trapezoidal panels to the shoulder with pounced texture and reserved profile bird; with custom-made display stand. [No Reserve]

Provenance

From a family collection mostly formed in the 1940s-1950s, thence by descent.
This lot is accompanied by an illustrated lot declaration signed by the Head of the Antiquities Department, Dr Raffaele D'Amato.
