Pith Topi Helmet
DATED 24TH FEBRUARY 1922 A.D.
15 3/8 in. (2 kg, 39 cm).
Also known as a sola topi; with ivory-coloured upper and leather chin strap, stamped 'made for Whiteaway Laidlaw & Co Ltd', together with other stamps and date; original tin box with carry handle, hinged lid, hasp and painted initials 'C.H.B.', together with a depository label.

Produced for the North Irish Horse (60th Imperial Yeomanry) regiment and was presented to a Colonel at some stage in its history. The NIH is a yeomanry unit of the British Territorial Army raised in the northern counties of Ireland in the aftermath of the Second Boer War. -
