Two hoplites, holding shields, on galley to left above waves, prow ending in lion's head; below, hippocamp to left / Lion attacking bull to left. E&E-B Series IV.4.2; HGC 10, 139. Good Very Fine.(0.67gr, 10mm, 9h.).

Lydo-Milesian standard. Sardes mint or subsidiary mint. Type IV (middle) B. Persian king or hero, wearing kidaris and kandys, quiver over shoulder, in kneeling-running stance to right, holding dagger in right hand, bow in left; countermark 196 and 'lvv' in Lydian within rectangular incuse / Oblong incuse punch; uncertain countermarks. Carradice Type IV, Group B; BMC Arabia pl. XXVI, 17. 5.56gr, 15mm.
Near Very Fine. Unpublished and apparently unique countermarked inscription in Lydian, bearing possibly a personal name.

Head of Athena to right, wearing disc earring, necklace and a crested Attic helmet adorned with three olive leaves and a pi-style palmette / ΑΘΕ, owl standing to right, head facing the viewer, olive sprig and crescent moon in upper left field, all within incuse square. Near Very Fine. Bankers' marks on both sides.
