Each bird in profile with highly stylised geometric detailing; remains of pin lug and catchplate to reverse of each. [3]

‘The Ancient Menagerie Collection’ formerly the property of a Cambridgeshire lady, collected since the 1990s and acquired from auctions and dealers throughout Europe and the USA, now ex London collection.

Comprising a round plaque and beaded border; catch to the reverse and pin-lugs with mineralised fabric; inset gilt sheet silver medallion with stylised profile imperial bust, herringbone border and legend 'CMASPRO'. 11 grams, 41 mm
Fine condition. Extremely rare.
Acquired from a private London collection formed in the early 1990s. Ex private Suffolk, UK, collection. This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by searcher certificate no. 200199.
The legend 'CMASPRO' may be a bungled attempt to reproduce Roman script.
