Medieval Silver Decorated Ring
15TH-16TH CENTURY A.D.
1 in. (8.35 grams, 23.40 mm overall, 20.78 mm internal diameter (approximate size British T, USA 9 1/2, Europe 21.26, Japan 20)).
Comprising a wide grooved hoop and a lentoid-shaped bezel with scrolls and linear decoration.

The carving style bears similarities to the low-relief carvings on Pictish picture stones, although a close match for the subject matter is absent. A stone recorded at Dunnicaer, Scotland, is carved with a fish symbol but its execution is very sparse and linear in comparison with the heavy detailing of the present piece.
