Medieval Gilt Bronze Lion Finial
14TH-15TH CENTURY A.D.
1 1/4 in. (25.1 grams, 32 mm high).
Modelled in the half-round standing with head left on a plinth base, rectangular fixing socket to underside.
Provenance
‘The Ancient Menagerie Collection’ formerly the property of a Cambridgeshire lady, collected since the 1990s and acquired from auctions and dealers throughout Europe and the USA, now ex London collection.
Published
Exhibited at the Harwich Museum, Harwich, Essex, UK, 19th June-9th September 2024; accompanied by a copy of a photograph of the artefact on display.
