Medieval Gilt Bronze Knight's Heraldic Horse Harness Pendant with Thistle
14TH-15TH CENTURY A.D.
1 5/8 in. (13.2 grams, 42 mm).
Comprising a hanger of five lobes with red and blue enamelled field and reserved thistle motif, pierced at the lower lobe, set within a frame of arches with interstitial spurs and a pierced lug above.

A number of axes of this type have been found in Western Central Europe and the Baltic countries. They were mostly found in the second half of 13th century and 15th century A.D. contexts, but ichnographically attest that they were still in use in the 16th century A.D.
