Medieval Bronze Ring with Sea Scroll Design
14TH-16TH CENTURY A.D.
1 1/4 in. (25.65 grams, 31.59 mm overall, 20.04 mm internal diameter (approximate size British T, USA 9 1/2, Europe 21.26, Japan 20)).
Comprising a wide hoop with raised boss to the underside, incised linear decoration on the shoulders, tall hexagonal bezel with textured sides and incised scrolls to the top. [No Reserve]

The carving style bears similarities to the low-relief carvings on Pictish picture stones, although a close match for the subject matter is absent. A stone recorded at Dunnicaer, Scotland, is carved with a fish symbol but its execution is very sparse and linear in comparison with the heavy detailing of the present piece.
