13TH-14TH CENTURY A.D.
1 1/8 in. (1.71 grams, 29 mm).
Formed as a cross-crosslet, the symbol of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, with punched-point border. [No Reserve]

The 'Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem' was an order of knighthood under the protection of the Pope, formed around 1099 A.D. by Duke Godfrey of Bouillon, the leader of the First Crusade. It was established for the protection of pilgrims travelling to the Holy Land and was recognised by a Papal Bull in about 1113 A.D.

Large Medieval Bronze Door Key with Lozenge-Shaped Handle

A substantial London type VI key of the lozenge bow circle type, with lozenge-shaped terminal with four circular drilled holes, one near each corner; small circular, hollow protrusion at its furthest end and a slightly raised collar at the top of the stem; the stem sub-circular and with a large rectangular indented bit with linear depression running along its longest edge, bisected by two smaller depressions; a further depression in its short, upper edge. 65 grams, 10 cm
