Comprising an arcade of winged angels beneath a segmented pediment; each angel shown facing with hands pressed together, head surrounded by a flat halo with wings flanking, in a billetted vesica-shaped border, arrowheads in the lower spandrels; mounted on a custom-made stand. 2.26 kg total, 18.7 cm high

Acquired 1960s-1990s. Late Alison Barker collection, a retired London barrister.
The basic elements of any medieval knife were the blade, the tang and the handle. The junction of blade and tang is termed the shoulder, its shape varying according to the position of the tang on the blade. -

This form of badge was used by the Lancastrians in the Wars of the Roses.
