Large Chinese Tang Terracotta Guardian
TANG DYNASTY, 618-907 A.D. OR LATER
30 in. (9.2 kg, 76 cm).
Modelled armoured with a fierce expression and open mouth, pointed ears and hair pulled on a high top-knot; the shoulder pads formed as dragon's heads, painted lamellar detailing to the armour; his right arm raised with clenched fist, the left raised with an open palm.
