Large Chinese Han Ceramic Kneeling Figure

HAN DYNASTY, 206 B.C.-220 A.D.

17 in. (7.5 kg, 43 cm high).

Wearing a floor-length robe and moon slippers, the hands enclosed in the concertinaed folds of the sleeves, long hair gathered in knot to the rear; restored.

Provenance

Acquired 1990s.
West Country, UK, collection.

Accompanied by a thermoluminescence analysis report no.C122e85 from Oxford Authentication.
This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by search certificate no.11371-192659.

Cf. kneeling figures forming part of a dance and music ensemble from the Han period, now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, under accession number 1994.605.85a–c.
