Large Chinese Green Stone Bi Disc
20TH CENTURY A.D. OR EARLIER
19 1/2 in. (25 3/4 in.) (7.8 kg total, 50 cm diameter (65.5 cm including stand)).
With a central hole; the disc sub-rectangular in cross section, gently tapering towards the outer edge; mounted on a custom-made display stand.

Ex Hong Kong collection, 1990s.
The headdress of late Sui and early Tang warriors was a black cloth (boutou) drawn over the head and elaborately tied into a sausage-like shape at the rear. For more formal wear this cloth cap, especially the free ends of the knot at the back, would be stiffly starched. -
