Judaea, Legionary Countermarks on AE As of Vespasian. 69-79 CE.
Rome mint; struck 74 CE. Legio X Fretensis issue. [IMP CAESAR VESP AVG COS V CENS], laureate head of Vespasian to right; large X in square countermark / Spes advancing to left, holding flower; [S C in fields]. Cf. RIC II.1 730; cf. RCV 2361. For countermark: Howgego 735ii (Ascalon, circa 85/6 CE). Near Very Fine.(8.44gr, 25mm, 6h.).
