VICTORIA DEI • GRA • BRITT • REGINA • FID • DEF • IND • IMP •, crowned and draped bust to left; T.B. in small lettering beneath truncation / FARTHING, Britannia seated to right, holding trident in left hand, and shield with Union flag in right hand, date in exergue. Freeman 576; SCBC 3964. Almost Uncirculated.(2.81gr, 20mm, 12h.).

    Struck for use in Malta where the farthing was already circulating at a face value of three Maltese grani. The third farthing was made to be 1/3 of the weight of a farthing, providing Malta with a coin valued at one grano. Third-farthings were never legal tender in the United Kingdom.
