Graeco-Roman Bronze Harpocrates Figure
CIRCA 1ST CENTURY B.C.-1ST CENTURY A.D.
4 7/8 in. (283 grams total, 12.4 cm including stand).
Standing nude and supporting a rearing uraeus on his left arm, remains of his side-lock on the right shoulder; mounted on a custom-made stand. [No Reserve]

In many ancient houses a special domestic sacrifice was offered: the remains of burned offering of a chicken or small bird were deposited on the floor of the courtyard, along with certain characteristic small vessels: shallow saucers and plates, covered dishes, wine cups and lamps. -

Wheelmade red lustrous ware was a ceramic of foreign origin which found its way into Cyprus during the Late Bronze Age, when international trade was widespread. According to Karageorghis it originated in Anatolia during the early Bronze Age but was known in Alasya (Cyprus) during the Late Bronze Age II.
