Gordian III AE 21mm of Berytus, Phoenicia. AD 238-244.

IMP GORDIANVS AVG COS I, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust to right / COL IVL AVG FEL BER, Dionysus standing facing, head to left, holding nebris over shoulder, rhyton and thyrsus; at feet, panther standing to left, head to right. RPC VII.2, 3551; BMC 245; SNG Copenhagen 125. Near Very Fine.(8.13gr, 21mm, 7h.).

    Zeus Pandemos was the chief god of Synnada, and his epithet ΠΑΝΔΗΜΟΣ means "of all the people'' (see the word 'pandemic'), an indication of a form of Zeus associated with the community and popular support.
