Gold Ring with Heart-Shaped Bezel
CIRCA 17TH CENTURY A.D.
3/4 in. (1.60 grams, 20.91 mm overall, 16.70 mm internal diameter (approximate size British L, USA 5 3/4, Europe 11.24, Japan 10)).
Slender hoop, flared shoulders, square cell to the bezel with inset table-cut diamond.

A small reliquary pendant, possibly containing the remains of cloth or bone of a saint. The relics had to be kept in containers that expressed the dignity of their contents: chests, cases and, of course, reliquaries. This also applied to personal relics, often in the form of pendants, which were sometimes made in gold and silver. -
