Ethiopian Diptych Icon of the Virgin and Child with Angels and Saint George
CIRCA 1500 A.D.
3 1/2 x 3 1/8 in. (57 grams, 88 x 80 mm).
Carved rectangular diptych with braided thread hinges; left inner panel a painted scene of the St. George on horseback wielding a spear with Ge'ez script text above; right panel with nimbate Virgin Mary, Infant Jesus and flanking angels. [No Reserve]
