Egyptian 'Maspero' Faience Bead Group with Hieroglyphs
NEW KINGDOM, 19TH-20TH DYNASTY, 1279-1081 B.C.
1/4 - 3/8 in. (1.32 grams total, 7-10 mm).
Including two scarabs with hieroglyphs to the underside, and two rectangular beads with hieroglyphs. [4]

In ancient Egyptian mythology, Isis was the sister-wife of Osiris and the mother of the sky god Horus. She is associated with aspects of fertility and motherhood. This amulet unusually depicts her with a two-plumed crown, which may associate her with the goddess Sothis. -

This ancient amulet represents two ostrich feathers or shuty. Interestingly, these feathers were also present on the Atef crown of Osiris, the god of the afterlife and the dead. This suggests the amulet was believed to imbue the wearer with Osiris' divine power and protection. -

The headrest, or weres amulet, was placed under the mummy's head to protect it from damage and ensure the deceased's rebirth.
