Egyptian Green Glazed Shabti
LATE PERIOD, 664-332 B.C.
4 7/8 in. (73 grams, 12.5 cm).
With arms crossed at the chest holding pick, hoe and cord for seed bag, dorsal pillar, horizontal and vertical panels to the lower body with hieroglyphic text. [No Reserve]

From a collection acquired on the UK art market from various auction houses and collections mostly before 2000. From an important Cambridgeshire estate; thence by descent.
Sekhmet was a ferocious and aggressive deity, the consort of Ptah, and closely associated with the king. An amulet would imbue its wearer with her power.
