Egyptian Faience Shabti and Amulet Group
LATE PERIOD-PTOLEMAIC PERIOD, 664-30 B.C.
1 5/8 - 2 1/2 in. (20 grams total, 41-65 mm).
Two mummiform shabti figurines, one faded pale green and the other bright turquoise; one amuletic figurine, possibly of a ram or baboon-headed deity with sun disk headdress, applied black pigment detailing. [3, No Reserve]

Footnotes
Shabti figures were created to carry out heavy manual tasks on behalf of a person in the afterlife. From the Third Intermediate Period into the Late Period burials were often provided with several hundred shabtis.

The wedjat-eye amulet represents the healed eye of the god Horus, featuring both human and falcon elements. The name wedjat in ancient Egyptian means ‘the one that is sound.’ According to Egyptian mythology, Horus' eye was wounded or taken by the god Seth and restored by Thoth. The wedjat-eye amulet was thought to protect its wearer and bestow the power of recovery and regeneration onto them. It was very popular and used by both the living and the dead. -

Egyptian Steatite Scaraboid for Pharaoh Shabaka

Bifacial carved scaraboid; reverse with royal cartouche for Pharaoh Shabaka, flanked by the uraeus of Lower and Upper Egypt, surmounted by the Pharaonic epithet “King of the Upper and Lower Egypt” (“king of the reed” and “king of the bee”) and by the title “the son of Ra” and below, the sign of neb (damaged) “lord”; obverse with on the left, wedjat (winged cobra with the red crown – Lower Egypt), embracing with his wings shen (solar symbol) and in the centre, a lion with a ram's head, crowned and on the right, wedjat with the white crown of the Upper Egypt; on the upper section, a scarab with opened wings, instead of a lotus flower is depicted on the lower section. 7.65 grams, 27 mm
