Egyptian Brown Quartzite Baboon Animal Figurine
NEW KINGDOM, CIRCA 1550-1070 B.C.
5 7/8 in. (1.15 kg, 15 cm).
Carved in a typical pose, sitting on its haunches with its tail curving around the right side, its front paws resting on its knees and protruding beneath its thick furry pelt, with incised detailing, its feet either side of the phallus, the head with bulbous, striated hair on either side, chipped, snout restored; seated on a high shrine-shaped plinth with squared front and rounded back, featuring a cavetto cornice and roll detailing on the upper part.

Egyptian Mixed Scarab and Scaraboid Collection

Comprising (from left to right, top to bottom): 1) a scarab with an oval border containing a goose, nefer(?), and a reed leaf; 2) a scarab with an oval border featuring a triple lotus flower motif at the top and bottom, with a middle row of floral bundles; 3) a scaraboid with a long oval border containing a cross pattern incorporating scrolls, coiled cords, and floral elements; 4) a scarab with an oval border featuring a hes-jar flanked by two cobras; 5) a scarab with a standing male figure holding a sceptre/mace and a flail, flanked by two highly stylised rearing cobras; 6) a plain scarab; 7) and a scarab with an oval border containing the name Amun-Re, a neb symbol, and a lotus flower. 13 grams total, 11-23 mm

A fragment featuring a low-relief depiction of a male head in profile with a shoulder-length duplex wig, the upper part intricately detailed with herringbone stripes and a fringed edge, transitioning into heavy curls at the lower part, sporting a short beard and a boldly carved ear with an indented lobe, drilled for a mounting peg. 1.95 kg, 26.5 cm
