'C' (Camulodunum?) mint. Struck under Carausius, circa AD 286-circa 293. IMP C DIOCLETIANVS AVG, radiate and cuirassed bust to right / PAX AVGGG, Pax standing to left, holding olive branch and transverse sceptre; S P across field; C below. Cf. RIC V 20. Extremely Fine.(5.10gr, 22mm, 7h.).

According to Eckhel (viii. 81), the most probable interpretation of the legend CONSTANTINIANA DAFNE is to be understood the castle or camp Dafne, constructed by Constantine I on the bank of the Danube. -

With an impression of the obverse on one side, and the reverse on the other, of the coin being counterfeited this ancient forger's casting mould would have been stacked with others, the molten metal being poured from above and allowed to cool. -
