Chinese Tang Terracotta Duck Vessel
TANG DYNASTY, 618-907 A.D.
10 1/4 in. (1.1 kg, 26 cm wide).
Two-part container modelled in the form of a duck with neck extended; ellipsoid tray with internal segmentation; domed lid with D-shaped tail and hatched upper face.

Ex West Country, UK, collection, 1990s.
Accompanied by an original thermoluminescence analysis report no.C119f84 from Oxford Authentication.

In the mid 15th century, a freighting junk loaded with fine Vietnamese pottery sank in an area of the South China Sea called the 'Dragon’s Embrace.' This vessel is part of the shipwreck cargo recovered off the coast of Vietnam at Hoi An. The ceramics themselves were probably made in the area of Chu Dau.
