Chinese Tang Armenian Groom Figure
TANG DYNASTY, 618-907 A.D. OR LATER
19 in. (3.05 kg, 48.5 cm).
Wearing a cross-over horseman's jacket, tight trousers and a tall cap with a wide upturned brim; Iranian bearded facial features; repair to neck.

Ex West Country, UK, collection, 1980-1990s.
Accompanied by a copy of a thermoluminescence test report issued by Laboratory Kotalla of Germany, report number 44CM110520.
Footnotes
The use of foreign featured figurines in the Tang period showed the extent that the Dynasty drew on capabilities of the experts from the 'Silk Road' especially for horse and camel training.
