Chinese Style Gilt Bronze Seated Bodhisattva Statue
20TH CENTURY A.D.
10 3/4 in. (1.79 kg, 27.3 cm).
Seated in a lotus pose and wearing an elaborate crown and costume, floral earrings suspended from the elongated earlobes; downcast eyes and serene expression. [No Reserve]

From the family collection of a Hampstead gentleman; formerly acquired in the 1980s.

Hoi An Cargo Shipwreck Glazed Bowl Group

Each a bell-shaped bowl with blue or polychrome floral motifs inside and out, concentric rings, one with central floral design. 880 grams total, 12.7-13.5 cm

In the mid 15th century a freighting junk loaded with fine Vietnamese pottery sank in an area of the South China Sea called the 'Dragon’s Embrace.' This vessel is part of the shipwreck cargo recovered off the coast of Vietnam at Hoi An. The ceramics themselves were probably made in the area of Chu Dau.
