Chinese Qing Pair of Female Attendants

QING DYNASTY, 1644-1912 A.D.

8 5/8 - 9 in. (966 grams total, 22-23 cm).

Modelled standing and dressed in dark robes, hair worn on a tall to-knot held in place with a band, one holding a box in her hand, and the other a plate with a pig head in her left hand a bag over her right shoulder. [2]

From a West Country collection, UK, 1990s.

    In the mid 15th century a freighting junk loaded with fine Vietnamese pottery sank in an area of the South China Sea called the 'Dragon’s Embrace.' This vessel is part of the shipwreck cargo recovered off the coast of Vietnam at Hoi An. The ceramics themselves were probably made in the area of Chu Dau.
