Charles II Period Bronze Knife Handle with Lion Holding Heraldic Shield
CIRCA 1660-1685 A.D.
3 1/2 in. (42.9 grams, 88 mm).
With barrel-shaped baluster and single-edged ferrous blade, the handle formed as a rearing lion supporting a pavise with its knees and forepaws, with scale-effect mane, pierced mouth holding a suspension ring; a rare type. [No Reserve]
