British Bronze Age 'Welby Type' Looped and Socketted Axehead
2ND MILLENNIUM B.C.
3 7/8 in. (258 grams, 98 mm).
With convex cutting edge tapering from square body and slightly rounded socket; the socket with one indented band of ornament and a series of indented line ornaments to each side; single lateral loop for attachment to the shaft. [No Reserve]

From the private collection of John Fox, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, UK, antiquarian and archaeologist; his collection assembled in the 1950s-1970s.
